Hearing Loss / Deafness

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 5% of the global population—approximately 466 million people—suffer from hearing impairment. It is projected that by 2050, one in every ten individuals will experience some form of hearing loss.

The normal hearing threshold is considered to be 25 dB or better in both ears. When a person’s hearing does not meet this standard, they are said to be experiencing hearing loss, which can range from mild to severe and can affect one ear or both ears.

"Deafness" refers to profound hearing loss, where an individual experiences little or no hearing at all.
